PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the condition of slipping down of clothing from a hanging rod by securely holding the clothing on the hanging rod. SOLUTION: A portable hanger includes an expansive hanging rod 10 on which clothing F is hung and a suspension rope 20 mounted over both ends of the hanging rod 10 for suspending the hanging rod 10. A support 21 with a through-hole 22 in which the suspension rope 20 is passed and supported is provided at one end of the hanging rod 10 and a lock 24 on which the suspension rope 20 is locked at both ends is provided at the other end of the hanging rod 10 to thereby mount the suspension rope 20 over both ends of the hanging rod 10 in two lines. The side of the hanging rod 10 of the two-line mounted suspension rope 20 is formed as a rope-shaped holddown rope portion 40 mounted over both ends of the hanging rod 10 for holding down the clothing F. When the suspension rope 20 is hooked and suspended, the suspension rope 20 is relatively pulled with the dead weight of the clothing F to tense the holddown rope portion 40 all times for securely holding the clothing F.
