PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide for treatment, diagnosis or the like for inflammation, autoimmune disease, infection, cancer, ischemia or the like which shows high homology over the whole length to the nucleic acid sequence that codes for the FRAZZLED polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide is an isolated new polynucleotide comrising the nucleotide sequence which shows at least 80% homology over the whole length to the nucleotide sequence that codes for the FRAZZLED polypeptide of the formula and codes for the polypeptide having the activity of FRAZZLED polypeptide or the nucleotide sequence complementary to this nucleotide sequence and is useful in the treatment, the diagnosis or the like for chronic and acute inflammations, arthritis, sepsis, autoimmune disease, infection, apoplexy, ischemia, nephropathy, AIDS, osteoporosis, cancer, Alzheimer disease or the like. This polynucleotide is obtained by carrying out expressed sequence tag analysis from the cDNA library arising from human osteoblast by means of standard cloning and screening.
