STABLE, NON-HYGROSCOPIC SALTS OF L(-)CARNITINE AND ALKANOYL L(-)CARNITINES, A PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION AND SOLID, ORALLY ADMINISTRABLE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING SUCH SALTS

PURPOSE: A compound with 2:1 for the molar ratio of a carnitine ingredient and a mucic acid is provided to form an L(-)carnitine, an alkaneoyl L(-)carnitine, and a non-hygroscopic salt with a stable mucic acid. CONSTITUTION: Stable, non-hygroscopic salts of L(-)carnitine and alkaneoyl L(-)carnitines with mucic acid of formula (I) are disclosed wherein the molar ratio between the carnitine moiety and mucic acid is 2:1. A process for producing the salts and solid orally administrable compositions containing same are also disclosed.
