PLASTIC MIXTURE FOR MANUFACTURING SUBSTRATE HAVING CORDIERITE AND EXTRUSION-FORMING ADMIXTURE, AND PREPARATION METHOD OF GREEN SUBSTRATE

PURPOSE: A plastic raw material mixture for the use of manufacturing substrates having a primary phase cordierite with a mixture of MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 and method for producing a green body substrate of cordierite-forming materials containing a manufacturing stage of the plastic raw material mixture are provided which enable the green body formed in a batch mixture to have improved resistance to a crack formation of a honeycomb in sintering. CONSTITUTION: A plastic mixture is disclosed for the use of manufacturing substrates which have a primary phase cordierite, contain at least one source of (a)one source of Al2O3 and SiO2 containing a clay mixture comprising below 22 wt.% of plastic clay in a plasticizable admixture based on the total weight of raw material with a residual source containing a silica-forming precursor and an alumina-forming precursor containing alumina having a mean particle diameter of below 1 micrometer and (b)one source of magnesia having a mean particle diameter of 1-15 micron and have a chemical composition of 11-17 wt.% of MgO, 33-41 wt.% of Al2O3 and 46-53 wt.% of SiO2. And a method is also disclosed for making a green body substrate of cordierite-forming materials containing a manufacturing stage of plastic raw materials of the above composition for forming the substrate of desirable structure by adding an organic binder system to the mixture and extrusion-molding.
