<p>A modular brake rotor (10) includes a core (11) having a central hat wall (23) and a plurality of support ribs (14) extending radially outwards therefrom. A pair of friction rings (15) are secured to the support ribs (14). A viscoelastic vibration reducing element (16) is disposed between the support ribs (14) and the friction rings (15) for creating a vibration reducing interface therebetween. The viscoelastic vibration reducing element (16) is preferably a viscoelastic adhesive (17). In an alternate embodiment, the viscoelastic vibration reducing element (16) is viscoelastic laminate (18) including one or more layers of viscoelastic adhesive (17) bonded to one or more intermediate materials (19).</p> |
