Motor has a water pump (15) with water pipelines (16,23) joining it to the rear surface of the motor by a pipe route that goes around the starter motor. A water pump (15) is fixed on the lower side of the crankshaft housing (1). It is joined to the water jacket (14b) of the cylinder head by a pipe (16). The outlet section (22) of the cooling jacket is joined to the thermostat housing (20) near to this junction. The thermostat valve, which is a bottom by-pass valve, is joined directly to the rear of the cylinder head (3). The by-pass pipe (23) is joined to the water pump (15) by being routed around the side of the starter motor (24) so that it passes between the starter motor and the velocity sensor (30).
