The invention concerns a holding device for hanging tyre casings substantially vertically, comprising a plurality of supports (1-4, 44-47) distributed about a lifting axis (XX') and capable of resting inside a tyre casing, the supports being radially mobile relative to the lifting axis, said device comprising a system with at least one spring (21, 49-50) exerting a force of radial expansion on the supports, said expansion being capable of being limited by a stop (23, 52).
