A COX 2 selective pharmaceutical composition is disclosed. The composition has a potency ratio less than 1 and comprises a complex of Naproxen and/ or one or more salts and/or adducts of Naproxen or mixtures thereof and Zinc in one or more salt forms or mixtures thereof and represented by the formula - ( Drug)2 Zn.nH2O. The drug in the above formula is Naproxen in a suitable pharmaceutical base/carrier or diluent.
