PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the programmable controller which can access a PIO card successively even in the case of abnormality occurrence and is adaptive to a connection of a conventional independent multichannel PIO bus. SOLUTION: Whether PIO interface parts 12a and 12b and PIO buses 7a and 7b are double and used is set on a bus switching card 4 of a CPU unit 1 and a setting and switching part 13 is provided which switches the PIO interface part 12 and PIO bus 7b in an unuse state to an operation state in the case abnormality occurs in the PIO interface part 12a or PIO bus 7a in use when the doubling is set.
