Disclosed is a prosthetic gastro-esophageal bulking device (96), for transesophageal implantation to treat gastro-esophageal reflux disease. The bulking device (96) comprises an anchor (108) for attachment to the wall of the esophagus, and a bulking device (110) for cooperating with residual lower esophageal sphincter function to inhibit gastric reflux.
