摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely remote control the travel of a robot by displaying a picture image photographed by the loaded camera of a robot on the picture plane of the monitor of a remote control device, and conforming the direction of advancing operation by the said device to the photographing direction of the camera. SOLUTION: In this controlling method, the travel direction of a robot 2, traveling with a camera 28 loaded for photographing the periphery of the robot 2, is remote controlled by a remote control device. In this case, a picture image photographed by the camera 28 is displayed on the picture plane of a monitor provided on the said device, to control the travel direction of the robot 2 by using a coordinate system where the advance direction of the robot 2 by a travel operation piece provided on the said device can be conformed to the photographing direction of the camera 28.
