PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily adjust the oscillation wavelength of a semiconductor laser to a desired value with accuracy. SOLUTION: In an external resonator type laser using a semiconductor laser 101, an optical fiber 106 and an FG constituting an external resonator are arranged on a temperature control section 112 through a sub-mount 111. The oscillation wavelength of the semiconductor laser 101 changes without causing any mode hopping in accordance with the temperatures of the optical fiber 106 and FG 110, which are controlled by means of the temperature control section 112 while the laser 101 is maintained at a fixed temperature.
