PURPOSE: A thawing method of a microwave oven is provided to improve the thawing state and to rapidly complete the thawing. CONSTITUTION: The thawing method of a microwave oven includes the steps of:calculating the instantaneous temperature changing rate of the thawing load detected by an infrared ray sensor; judging if the instantaneous temperature changing rate reaches a specific level; calculating the on/off duty ratio of a magnetron by using the first duty ratio calculating formula; judging if the instantaneous temperature changing rate of the thawing load is ascending; and controlling the on/off duty ratio of the magnetron if the instantaneous temperature changing rate does not change after deciding the thawing finishing point if the instantaneous temperature changing rate ascends according to the judged consequences.
