PURPOSE: A method is provided to minimize the allocation and the conflict of a channel on a sub-layer of a media access control in a mobile communication system, providing a packet data service. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling channel access in a mobile communication system comprises the steps of: a base station transmitting an information state of a channel code; a mobile station receiving system information of a broadcasting channel, terminal information, and the information state of the channel, and decides whether it is the random access. The information state of the broadcasting channel includes a channel identifier CI(Channel Indicator), a transmission level, a system frame number, a reverse amount of an interference measuring value by sectors, bits for displaying disassembly and assembly, parameter information of a system, the number of terminals called from the corresponding frame, an identifier of a mobile station, an information state of an available traffic channel, length of a MAC(Medium Access Control) frame, a CRC, and a Tail bit.
