PURPOSE: A RGS path guiding apparatus in a car navigation apparatus and control method thereof is provided, which installs DVD-RAM in a car navigation and guides a RGS path to a driver. CONSTITUTION: The RGS path guiding apparatus in a car navigation apparatus comprises: a GPS receiver (100) for receiving a coordinate data and a visual data transmitted from a GPS satellite; a key input unit (200) for setting a path of a destination; a gyro sensor (300) for detecting a variable angle; a car speed sensor (400) for sensing a speed of a car; a DVD-RAM (500) for storing a traveling history and a new road; a microcomputer (600) for extracting a current position of the car by the coordinate data and the visual data, outputting a display control signal, and storing an information to the new road to the DVD-RAM (500); and a LCD panel (700) for displaying the traveling path and the current position of the car. Thereby, it is possible to guide an optimum RGS path to a driver when a car travels on a new road.
