PURPOSE: A portable telephone and a method is disclosed to display an integrated menu by recognizing a menu of a slave terminal in a master terminal even though an any slave terminal is mounted on the master terminal. CONSTITUTION: A portable telephone of dual mode comprises a master terminal with a serial port, and a slave terminal capable of transmitting a menu table thereof, when mounting on the master terminal via the serial port, to reconfigure an integrated menu. A menu configuring method comprises steps of recognizing whether the slave terminal is mounted by checking a condition of the serial port, transmitting a stand-by signal to the slave terminal, receiving a menu table information transmitted from the slave terminal, and generating an integrated menu of the slave and master terminals.
