PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for generating a warning sound when changing a signal in a cross path is provided, which can pre-recognize a signal changing state to a driver during a progress of a cross path. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for generating a warning sound when changing a signal comprises: an ultraviolet ray transmitting unit (100) to be installed in a signal post (1) for sensing before a current time is a certain time which a yellow lamp of the signal post (1) is lighted and transmitting a ultraviolet ray warning signal; an ultraviolet ray receiving unit (200) for receiving the ultraviolet ray warning signal; a microcomputer (300) for outputting a sound control signal to output a warning signal; and a sound output unit (400) for outputting the warning signal to a driver. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of the traffic accident.
