PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multibeam image forming device which causes synchronous detection pulses to generate in a state of shifting the scanning of the lasers of respective multibeams with time with the synchronous detection signals generated by one synchronous detecting means by shifting the time for optically scanning the synchronous detecting means co-possessed by the laser beams of respective multibeam scanning optical systems. SOLUTION: The synchronous detecting means is so arranged as to be optically nearly flush with a photosensitive opposite surface. Respective reflection mirrors are so constituted that the anglesα,βof the reflection surface of a polygon mirror motor 123, the reflection mirrors 127, 137 and an optical path arriving at a photodetector 125 attainsα>βas shown in Fig. The multibeams from respective LD arrays 223, 233 are made to beα>βin the angles described above, therefore, as shown in Fig. 6, the time lags are generated in the synchronous detection signals of the detector by the scanning of the respective multibeams and the discrimination of the scanning positions of the respective multibeams is made possible.
