The invention relates to a device for transporting sheet-like articles in which the articles to be transported are constantly held between a conveyor belt (1) and a guide means (20) which contact the articles (23) to be transported on opposite sides. To ensure reliable transportation even in case of varying thickness of the articles the invention provides for the conveyor belt strand facing the articles (23) to be transported to be elastically preloaded by pressure elements (13, 16) in the direction of said articles (23).
