<p>A method of isomerizing a feed material which has not undergone any special pretreatment such as desulfurization or a method of isomerizing a hydrocarbon using hydrogen containing a sulfur compound. The isomerization method is characterized by contacting hydrogen and a raw hydrocarbon containing sulfur compounds in an amount of 10 to 500 ppm in terms of sulfur amount by weight with a solid acid catalyst comprising a support containing a part consisting of zirconia and/or hydrated zirconia and a sulfuric acid ingredient deposited on the support. The isomerized hydrocarbon thus obtained preferably has a content of organic sulfur compounds of 10 ppm or lower in terms of sulfur amount by weight.</p> |
