The olive collector is characterised in that its central portion 2 has 4 sides, a, b, c and d, and on the rear side b it carries comb tines 1 in the shape of a hook, on the two lateral sides c and d there are webs 3 which extend as far as the comb tines, the central portion 2 extends downwards and ends in a short pipe 4 to which is fitted a longer pipe 9 with a plug which can retain inside it a certain number of olives, the pipe 9 is also the handle of the olive picker, to the short pipe 4 are fitted also a curved pipe 5 to receive a hollow pole 6 or a length of flexible tube 10 of spiral type for the controlled bending of the olive collector which is effected by pulling on a cord 11 tied to the comb and extending down to the bottom of the hollow pole 6, and in some circumstances a light elastic tube 12 is also fitted, which directs the olives into a plain tub or one with absorption. The olive collector combs the foliage of the tree, picking off the olives which it retains on its inside, and when the olive collector is turned upside- down with the comb downwards but not quite vertical the olives fall into a tub, and when the hollow pole 6 is added the olives can also emerge from the bottom thereof with the aid of a mechanism with a flap 13. |
