PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively clean and dry a cap by discriminating the front and rear of the cap on the upstream side of the cleaning process of an automatic cleaning and drying device, removing the cap moving with the inside of the cap facing upward, and feeding only the cap moving with the inside of the cap facing downward to the cleaning process. SOLUTION: A guide passage 25 guiding the bottom and top surfaces of a cap 1 is formed at the midpoint of a chutter through which the cap 1 moves, a cap dropping hole 26 by notching the part of the bottom surface guide 24 is formed on the way of the guide passage 25, a roughly-triangular discriminating guide plate 27 whose width and length are shorter than the inside diameter of the cap 1 is protrudingly-mounted at the end of the cap inserting side of the cap dropping hole 26 so as to be in roughly-parallel to the bottom surface guide 24 so that the front of the cap dropping hole 26 may be formed in a discharging passage 28, and the lower part thereof may be formed in a feeding passage 29 to the cleaning device.
