PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sensitivity and durability of an electrophotographic sensitizer. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic sensitizer 9a, 9b or 9c has a photosensitive layer 4a or 4b on a conductive support 1, and the photosensitive layer 4a or 4b contains a hydrazone compound of the general formula as a charge transfer substance. The hydrazone compound having a wide conjugate system enhances a charge transfer degree and reduces a residual electric potential. The hydrazone compound has excellent compatibility with a binder resin for the photosensitive layer 4a or 4b and can be contained in a large amount to improve the photosensitivity. Since hardly deposited, the hydrazone compound stabilizes a repeated use characteristic.
