MODULAR CERAMIC ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic electrolyte member usable for an electrochemical device. SOLUTION: A ceramic element 10 capable of injection molding has a tube support part 14 and plural tubes 12 arranged in a matrix. The tube support part 14 has been pierced by plural passages from one face toward the other face. The ceramic element 10 has an electrically conductive coating and an electric collector coating, the passages have an electrically conductive coating and plugs have been inserted into the passages. A selected region of the ceramic element 10 is feed of the coating, the tubes 12 form series-parallel arrays, the tubes 12 in the same row are electrically parallel connected and the tubes 12 in the adjacent lines are electrically connected in series. Two such ceramic elements 10 are sealed to form one module. The electrochemical device may be any of an oxygen generator and a fuel cell.
