PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain primer DNA which is selected from specific base sequences, consists of serial specific nucleotides, has excellent sensitivity and specificity in detection, and is useful for the diagnoses of prostatic cancer and so on. SOLUTION: This primer DNA is selected from base sequences shown by formula I-IV, consists of serial 10 nucleotides or more, and has a conservative 3' end. It is preferable to detect mRNA which codes for prostate-specific antigen by labelling the primer DNA with a labelling substance (e.g. biotin), synthesizing cDNA using mRNA which codes for a prostate-specific antigen in a specimen as the first template, followed by carrying out the polymerase chain reaction using the synthesized cDNA as the second template and one of the primer DNAs.
