PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the build up characteristic of a pump by controlling the electric pump at the time of starting thereof so as to be driven at the predetermined high rotation during a constant time or till the pressure of a pressure-oil line becomes the predetermined pressure. SOLUTION: Signal from a vehicle controller 21 is input to a control device 20 for controlling an electric vane pump 10. At this stage, when the signal for starting the electric pump is input to the control device 20 from the vehicle controller 21, the controller 20 operates a control system so as to control the drive of the electric vane pump 10 on the basis of the signal from an oil temperature sensor 22 for detecting the oil temperature of the electric vane pump 10 at a suction side and a pressure sensor 25 for detecting the pressure of a pressure-oil line 24 for connecting the electric vane pump 10 and a hydraulic device 23 of a transmission to each other. Since the electric vane pump 10 is thereby driven at a high speed at the time of starting, vanes of the electric vane pump 10 is made to slide for contact with a cam ring by the centrifugal force, and the quick build up characteristic of the pump 10 can be secured.
