PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium suitable for ink jet recording which is prevented from discoloring, improved in water resistance and shelf stability and prevented from bleeding and overflowing. SOLUTION: A recording medium 100 which is prepared by laying a porous ink receiving layer 102 containing thermoplastic resin particles and an inorganic pigment over a base 101, the pore distribution curve of the layer 102 having the maximum peak within the range of the pore radius 1-10 μm and at least one peak within the range of the pore radius 0.001-0.1 μm and the total of the volume of the pores of the radiuses 0.1-20 μm being 0.5 cm3/g or above, and a method for conducting ink jet recording on this recording medium 100, are obtained. |
