Transition metal complexes of the formula ILmMXnI,where L is a ligand of the formula II m is 1 or 2, M is a titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, or a rare earth metal, X is fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, hydrogen, C1-C10-alkyl, C6-C15-aryl or OR1, n is 1, 2, 3, or 4 as defined herein, and R1, R2, R3, R4, and A are as defined herein, and the use of these complexes as catalysts for olefin polymerization are described herein.
