A wound treatment composition and a wound dressing containing it

A wound treatment composition is provided comprising an adsorbent material for adsorbing moisture on or around a wound; and, a saccharide or polysaccharide or derivative thereof. The composition is preferably carried within an envelope in the form of a dressing, conveniently a sachet, with at least a part of the envelope being of a moisture permeable material. A preferred composition includes sucrose and silica gel.
