PURPOSE: A voltage generation apparatus and method for driving liquid crystal display panel are provided to reduce current consumption. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a divider for dividing a frequency of an inputted reference clock signal into a plurality of frequencies, a selector for selecting one of the clock signals in response to a select signal and outputting the selected signal, a controller for encoding a plurality of control signals generated according to size of a liquid crystal display panel and outputting the encoded signal as the select signal, and a frequency multiplier for inverting a phase of the selected clock signal, multiplying a first reference voltage in response to the inverted clock signal and generating the multiplied voltage as driving voltage to drive the liquid crystal display panel.
