PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that simply changes the density of binary image data without increasing cost. SOLUTION: Lighting/non-lighting of a beam is observed by 4 pixels mutually adjacent in the scanning direction of the beam. Let the setting of the darkest density be F1, the lightest density be F9 and the standard density setting be F5, then the output image density is changed by changing an image drawing pattern in response to a pattern of 4 pixels in the standard state or in response to a degree of change in the density. The number of image drawing pixels is increased when making the density dark and the number of them is decreased when making the density light, the number of full drawn pixels and the number of full non-drawn pixels are made unchanged, even if the density is changed.
