PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive image information with high quality by declaring maximum paper size to be the reception size in the case of reception and selecting a recording means or an information processing unit for an output destination of received image information, depending on whether or not a size of received image information exceeds a size of paper set on the recording means. SOLUTION: This facsimile equipment declares maximum paper size to be the reception size at reception, regardless of the size of paper set to a recording means. Then the facsimile equipment selects the recording means or an information processing unit for an output destination of received image information, depending on whether or not a size of a received image information exceeds a size of paper set to the recording means. The facsimile equipment is provided with a main control section 2, a reception size declaration section 4, a line density declaration section 5, a plotter 9, an image output changeover section 6 and a PC I/F section 7 or the like. Then the image output changeover section 6 selects recording output of received image information by the plotter 9 or output of the received image information to the information processing unit connecting to the PC I/F section 7 which is under the control of the main control section 2.
