PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the driving sensitivity of a positioner constant regardless of the track position in the radial direction of a medium. SOLUTION: The method is provided with a servo system 26, which drives a positioner 25 that moves the illuminating position of light beams to an arbitrary track position of a medium, a memory 30, which beforehand stores the measurement result of a driving sensitivity measuring section 28, and a driving sensitivity setting section 32. The memory 30 beforehand stores the servo gain of the system 26 to make the driving sensitivity (an acceleration coefficient) of the positioner 25 constant at plural positions in the radial direction of the medium. The section 32 reads the servo gain corresponding to the track position from the memory 30 during a moving while the system 26 moves the positioner to an arbitrary track position and sets the gain into the system 26.
