PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire in a novel structure capable of immediately identifying its position in darkness when collapsed or broken into a sagging condition in suffering disaster and avoiding the occurrence of miserable contact and electric shock. SOLUTION: An electric wire has an optical fiber 4 formed with a continuously linear light transmissive window portion 43 throughout a total length and embeded in an electric insulating layer 3 covering a copper wire 2 and a light emitting diode 5 facing to one end of the optical fiber 4 for picking part of a current flowing in the copper wire 2 via a transformer 6 and emitting light with its weak electric power, whereby a light is emitted from the light transmissive window portion 43 of the optical fiber 4 when power is supplied to the copper wire 2 to improve in visibility at night and identify a current flowing condition at a glance.
