PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer device at low cost which can effect a highly accurate head position detection. SOLUTION: One PI sensor is provided on the lower part of a head carrier body 1 and two light shield plates 4a and 4b which are different in size are provided at both ends of a travel path for the head carrier 1, so that when the head carrier body 1 reaches a right and a light home position respectively, the positions can be detected. The home positions at both ends which are detected by the PI sensor, and the accurate position and driving direction of the head carrier body driven with the pulse motor of a motor interlocked with the signal of the PI sensor can be confirmed.
