PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a battery performance, facilitate a water repellent treatment and realize a water repellent treatment to a limited portion by being provided with a pair of electrodes comprising an electrode reaction layer and an electrode substrate, an electrolyte layer and a gas flow passage and disposing a non-polymeric compound of a fluorine and a carbon on at least one portion of the electrode reaction layer, the electrode substrate and a surface of the gas flow passage. SOLUTION: In a fuel cell, a fluoride pitch being a non-polymeric compound of fluoride and carbon is disposed on an electrode reaction layer, an electrode substrate or a surface of a gas flow passage for feeding/distribution a fuel containing hydrogen and for feeding/distributing an oxidizing agent gas containing oxygen. An average molecular weight of the fluoride pitch is preferably 500 or more and 10,000 or less. Then, a contact angle of the fluoride pitch to water is preferably 130 deg. or more. The fluoride pitch is dissolved well in a fluoric solvent such as perfluorobenzene and is solidified to a surface of a material to be treated by only applying it on the material to be treated and drying it. The fluoride pitch is difficult to be dropped off by a gas flow. |
