<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow recording contents of a tape to be identified on a screen and to display a caption. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a tape map memory that stores contents recorded on a tape and a tape map controller. An operation input means 14 is provided with a tape map button 141, a caption button 142, a reproduction button 143 and a stop button 145 or the like. Once a video-recording tape is loaded to the device and the tape map button 141 is depressed, a tape map menu 40 is displayed. The tape map menu 40 displays information such as contents of programs video-recorded in the tape and information as to whether or not any program has already been reproduced. When buttons l51, 152 are used on the menu and a cursor is set on a program desired to be viewed and the reproduction button 143 is depressed, a menu 60 is selected, characters C1 run on the menu 60 to indicate a state of tape retrieval. When a program search is finished, the reproduction mode is automatically selected.</p> |
