PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the strength of a front stop of a terminal metal fitting. SOLUTION: The side faces of a lance 18 are shaved in the areas nearer the forefront than a lock projection so that shaved surfaces 21 are generated, and continued to the front wall 13, an abutting part 23 projecting inward is formed in the regions of the side faces of a cavity 12 which are confronting the shaved surfaces 21, and the innermost edge of the abutting part 23 is made possible to abut to a stabilizer 8 installed on a male side terminal metal fitting 1. The metal fitting 1 inserted regularly makes front stop when it abuts to the front wall 13 along with the stabilizer abutting to the abutting part 23, and the lock force directed forward is heightened. Because the abutting part 23 is formed using the generated by shaving the lance 18, there is no risk enlarge the cavity 12, and the part nearer the forefront than the lock projection 19 which is shaved does not substantially influence the slipoff preventive strength backward, and the slipoff preventive force backward of the metal fitting 1 is secured to the same degree as conventional.
