PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnostic apparatus by which the failure of memories (a ROM and a RAM) can be confirmed surely in a control device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: In a control device for a vehicle, a first storage region 6A and a second storage region 6B which store a first program for ROM failure diagnosis and a second program for ROM failure diagnosis are provided at a ROM 4 in a memory 3. When the failure of at least one out of the first and second programs for ROM failure diagnosis is detected, a fail-safe processing operation in a ROM failure is performed. In addition, a first storage region 9A for a first flag for RAM failure and a second storage region 9B for a first flag for RAM failure are provided at a RAM 5 in the memory 3. When at leat one out of the first and second flags for RAM failure indicates the failure of the RAM 5, a fail-safe processing operation in a RAM failure is performed.
