PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient space factor without damaging a coil when the coil is inserted into a slot. SOLUTION: A stator core 13 is held and positioned by holding jigs 17 and 19. Coils 15 inserted into slots 13b formed on the inner circumference of the stator core 13 are held by blades 27. By moving a stripper 21 toward the stator core 13, the coils 15 are pushed by the stripper 21 and inserted into the slots 13b. Rollers 37 are rotatably provided on the side surface on the coil insertion side of the holding jig 17. When the coil 15 is inserted into the slot 13b, the roller 37 presses the coil 15 toward the center axial line of the stator core 13 to reduce the insertion resistance of the coil 15 inserted into the slot 13b.
