PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display data of a prescribed form or to display a proper image by using image data recorded in a different file recording form even if the image data are recorded in a different file recording form. SOLUTION: An MPU 5 reads information relating to an image and discriminates whether or not the image can be reproduced, based on the information relating to the read image. When the MPU 5 discriminates the reproduction of the image to be impossible, the screen is displayed in a mode in a uniform color to allow the user to recognize it that the image cannot be reproduced. Or a substitute image is displayed and information denoting disabled reproduction is displayed so as to provide the user-friendly camera.
