The invention relates to a connection for a load carrying upright for cover frames of trucks and trailers, whose upper longitudinal boom (1) or transverse boom is supported on the loading platform via at least one load-carrying upright which at its upper end has a device for connecting it with the upper longitudinal booms of the cover frame using a shaped section. The invention aims to provide a connection for a load-carrying upright which makes it possible to safely and easily connect the load-carrying upright to the cover frame system. To this end the device for connecting the load-carrying upright to the upper longitudinal booms (1) or transverse booms of the cover frame has an at least angular coupling section (6) and a plug-in locking device (8). The coupling section (6) is irremovably joined to the load-carrying upright and has a first bearing surface (9) which is parallel to the lower side of the upper longitudinal boom (1) or transverse boom, as well as a second bearing surface (10) which is parallel to a lateral wall (11) of the upper boom (1) and has a recess to permit the passage of the plug-in locking device (8).
