A lining or interlining for garments that are folded when in use, e.g. collars and cuffs, particularly of shirts, is formed by laminating together two fabrics with an intermediate layer of thermoplastic polymeric material, the fold line being defined by one or more gaps in the adhesive layer. The fabrics may be woven or non-woven and the adhesive is preferably a sheet of polythene, the fold line, which may be curved, being defined by slits in the adhesive layer, preferably about 3/32 inch wide. The thermoplastic layer may be formed on one of the fabrics by applying a powdered or printed adhesive. The process may be carried out by prelaminating the thermoplastic sheet with one fabric, then combining the second fabric with the prelaminate. |
