A device for retaining a window in a position displaced parallel to the plane of the window frame comprises pairs of arms 3 and 7 at the top and bottom of the window sash pivoting at one end on an axis 4 and pivot pins 8 on a fixed frame 1. The other end of the upper arm 7 has a pin 9 which fits in a slot 10 in a plate on a cover strip 2' on a window sash 2 when the window is displaced parallel to the plane of the window frames to allow a window to be slid between the sash 2 and the fixed frame. When the window is rotated about the axis 4, the arms 3 then being secured non rotatably about the pivot pins 5 to the sash 2, the pin 9 disengages the slot 11. In modifications, the pin may be on the sash 2 and the slot on the end of the arm 7, the slot may be widened to retain the pin therein and to prevent disengagement of the slot and pin by a pull on the window, and an additional slot curved at one end may cooperate with an additional pin. To facilitate engagement and disengagement of the pin in the slot, the plate with a widened slot slides in a guide on the cover strip 2' against spring action and one edge of the slot is outwardly inclined. |
