Pneumatic end-point damping for combustion engines

The damping system comprises an anchor (1) which is located displaceably within a housing chamber (2) filled with gas (G). The anchor divides the chamber into upper and lower chambers (21,22), whereby the speed of the anchor can be reduced. A residual volume (VR) of the corresponding chamber remains when the anchor contacts an upper or lower terminal plate (3,4). Gas which is throttled between the upper and lower chamber can be exchanged. A throttled exchange of gas is carried out by a radial clearance (5) between the housing (20) and the anchor or by at least one connection line (6,7) through the housing or the anchor, or by a combination of these measures. Fired coils (11) of electromagnet are arranged in the housing (20).
