Permanent magnet motor and its use

The motor has a rotor (1) with several mutually separate permanently magnetic magnet shells (3). The shells are mounted on a rotor core (5). Non-magnetic arrangements for fixing the shells on the rotor core are utilized on at least one of the ends of the shells. The fixing arrangements can be in the form of plastic molded around the ends of the shells. Independent claims are included for using the motor for driving a pump in a vehicle power steering system, or as an electric water pump for an internal combustion engine.
