A sealing strip e.g. for gaps in sliding steel roofs of motor vehicles and other gaps comprises a sealing element in the form of a hose 2 of polyolefin or P.V.C. and a stiffening element 3 of the same plastics (and may be formed as one element) the hose 2 and element 3 being enclosed in an envelope 1 of pile fabric or raised fabric made from a staple fibre yarn fabric of synthetic linear polymer, e.g. polyamide, polyester or polyolefin or of a staple fibre blended yarn consisting of 80% to 33% of synthetic linear polymer fibre and 20% to 67% of natural fibres or fibres derived from cellulose. The envelope 1 is adhered to the back of the stiffening element 3 and the strip would be bonded to a stationary face by the surface I and the surface II would face the movable surface of the gap.</p> |
