PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rolling roll with which an rolled stock excellent in surface gloss is manufactured by providing grinding nicks which are inclined at random at the greatest number of angles of less than a specified angle in a stitch shape respectively on both sides of the circumferential direction on the peripheral surface of a roll. SOLUTION: The roll surface is made into the stitch shape by mutually crossing the grinding sticks which are inclined at random at the greatest number of the angles of 0.5 to <90 deg. respectively on both sides of the circumferential direction (same as the rolling direction) of the roll. It is necessary to form the grinding nicks of the roll at a prescribed greatest number of the angles to the circumferential direction, but the angles of the respective grinding nicks are random and it is not necessary to make the greatest number of the anglesθ1,θ2 to the circumferential direction of the roll equal (symmetrically). When the greatest number of the angles are 0.5 to <90 deg., preferably, 5-85 deg. from the ease of impartation of the grinding nicks, the improvement of gloss is obtained. The roll on the outer layer of which a sintered hard alloy is adopted has excellent wear resistance and the surface gloss of the rolled stock is stably maintained for a long term.
