<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing ink pigment which meets the requirements of a high-performance offset printing ink, such as suitable rheology and high strengths, while eliminating the tendency of misting. SOLUTION: The pigment compsn. comprises an org. pigment and a phenol- modified natural resin deriv. which has an acid value of 160-300 mgKOH/g, pref. 200-260 mgKOH/g, and a wt. average mol.wt. (Mw) of 400-10,000 g/mol and is obtd. by reacting a mixture of reactants contg. (a) 50-95 wt.% natural resin or natural resin acid, (b) 0.5-30 wt.% monocyclic or polycyclic phenol, (c) 0.01-15 wt.% aldehyde or aldehyde acetal, (d) 0.001-2 wt.% metal compd. from groups Ia and IIa of the periodic table, and (e) 4.489-30 wt.%α,β- ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof.</p> |
