PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vulcanizable rubber composition excellent in processability, strength characteristic, weathering resistance, ozone resistance and thermal aging characteristics by making the composition include specific random copolymer rubber of ethylene, anα-olefin and a nonconjugated polyene, a diene-based rubber and an organic peroxide. SOLUTION: This vulcanizable rubber composition comprises (A) a random copolymer rubber of ethylene, anα-olefin and a nonconjugated polyene which consists of (i) ethylene, (ii) a 3-20Cα-olefin (e.g. propylene, 1-butene, etc.), and (iii) at least one kind of a terminal vinyl group-containing norbornene compound of formula I [(n) is 0-10; R1 is H or a 1-10C alkyl; R2 is H or a 1-5C alkyl] or formula II (R3 is H or a 1-10C alkyl) (e.g. 5-methylene-2-norbornene, etc.), (B) a diene-based rubber (e.g. butadiene rubber, etc.), and (C) an organic peroxide (e.g. dicumyl peroxide, etc). The weight ratio of the components A and B (A/B) is 1/99-99/1, preferably 90/10-10/90.
